Dual port AES50 repeater

Klark Teknik DN9610

Répéteur AES50 Klark Teknik DN9610Launched at the PLASA show, at the same time as the Midas PRO1 console, the DN9610 is an AES repeater for extending AES50 multichannel digital audio network connections (Cat-5e/Cat-6 cabling) up to 100m. Each AES50 feed can carry 24 bidirectional channels at 96 kHz or 48 bidirectional channels at 48 kHz. With two independent AES50 ports, the DN9610 is capable of extending two AES50 streams by up to 100m and multiple DS9610s can be daisy chained in series for considerable runs.

Housed in a compact and robust enclosure, not larger that a DI box, the DN9610 is protected by a shock absorbing silicone sleeve. It is fitted with two universal power supply inputs with locking connectors for redundancy. The four AES50 connectors are robust Neutrik EtherCON.

High dynamic range HF Digital transmission system

Sennheiser introduces D9000 series

At last, Sennheiser introduces the D9000 series, digital wireless transmission system, with the EM 9046, « central unit » and its modular approach accepting up to 8 UHF receiving modules (to cover the 470-798 MHz band), SKM 9000 hand held microphones transmitters as well as SK 9000 pocket transmitters. This digital HF system offers two transmission modes to satisfy applications in different environmental conditions: HD for high definition and LR for long range. This last mode, adapted to very difficult conditions with a lot of interferences sources, uses a patented audio codec. This mode also offers extended transmission range.

Digital modulation avoids compression and expansion, mandatory in analog, and gives a very low noise floor, with great dynamic range and optimal audio bandwidth.                   The transmitters offer a 88MHz switching bandwidth. The SKM9000 is compatible with Evolution G3 and 2000 (KK 204 and 205 Neumann included) head series, but four new capsules have been specially designed, one being the MD 9235 dynamic cardioid head. The SK 9000 is housed in a light and robust magnesium enclosure and accepts all microphone types equipped with a three pin Lemo connector. It also accepts line and instruments levels.

Martin Audio launches the new High efficiency XD range

The new Martin Audio XD range, actually XD12 and XD15, was designed to provide high acoustic pressure and extended bandwidth. Its asymmetric enclosure design and user rotatable constant directivity high frequency horn, covers many different applications: Sound reinforcement, distributed sound system, dance floor as well as stage monitoring.

One of the development priorities has been to redesign the transducers in order to get high efficiency and high SPL level within a small volume. As an example, the 15” long excursion woofer (with its 4” voice coil) of the XD15 shows a 100 dB/1 W /1 m sensitivity, capable of 133 dB SPL (1m) peak level and 127 dB in continuous mode. To achieve this, new neodymium motors have been design with advanced cooling to reduce power compression to negligible levels, as well as a new cone material, epoxy coated cellulose pulp to increase mass-rigidity ratio. The XD12 uses a 1,7” polyimide dome compression driver with a 1” throat where the XD15 is fitted with a 3” titanium diaphragm and a 1,4” throat. This explains the high frequency response difference (18 kHz instead of 20 kHz at -3dB) and the difference between the two crossover points 1,75 kHz in one case and 2 kHz in the other one. Both drivers are loaded with a 90° user rotatable 80°H x 50°V constant directivity horn easily adapting to vertical or horizontal usage.

XD12 without grille.

XD enclosures are made of touring grade plywood, coated with high durability polyurethane, while the transducers are protected with a stamped steel grille. M8 inserts are available on the box to match different type of accessories (brackets …) and a 35 mm true pole mount feature.

Both models can be used in passive or bi-amp mode. When used in bi-amp configuration, it is strongly recommended to use Martin Audio DX1.5 or DX2 controllers as well as adding WS18X or 218X subwoofer.
