Prism 2, the new Media Server software by Avolites

Text and video: Allison Cussigh - Translation: Ted Hall

Avolites unveiled its new media server software, Prism 2, at Prolight + Sound 2025. It’s designed for intuitive video control using Avolites consoles and offers a “plug and play” solution for complex video effects, without needing extra tools. Terry Di Isernia, Avolites France Market Manager, is introducing the features of this new software, which kicks off a new product line.

Prism 2 features

  • Multiple layers: Prism 2 allows you to create multiple layers for managing media, whether it’s videos or images.
  • NDI Integration: It supports NDI inputs and outputs, making it easy to send video streams to other consoles and Media Servers.
  • Projection surfaces: The application allows you to define different projection surfaces in multiple LED screens or multiple video projectors.
  • Simplified Management: The connection between Prism 2 and the console is done without being patched in DMX and therefore without using resources. Once this proprietary tunnel is established, it will be possible to
  • work with each layer like an automated fixture (moving head, etc…): xy, colors, etc.
  • Mixing Video and Lighting: Prism 2 aims to control multi-source projectors/surfaces with independently controllable LEDs, such as video panels, to facilitate synchronized effect configurations between the lighting kit and LED screens in particular. This strong point follows the logic of an increasingly widespread use of pixel-mapping controllable fixtures.
