Internationaal Theatre Amsterdam (ITA) has modernized its facilities with ETC’s Eos Apex lighting control system, supplied and supported by ETC dealer Ampco Flashlight, as part of its ongoing commitment to upgrading the venue and enhancing production quality.

ITA is one of the Netherlands’ leading theatres and touring companies, home to internationally renowned actors and an innovative team of directors, presenting a wide range of plays, productions, and touring performances. Its latest production, Giovanni’s Room, is part of a European tour, moving between venues of all sizes every two weeks.
To upgrade its spaces, ITA evaluated several lighting control systems, carefully considering performance, flexibility, and reliability. The team, led by Lighting Coordinator Wannes Klop, selected ETC for its exceptional color engine, robust build quality, and precise control, which perfectly matched the theatre’s requirements as well as the demands of touring.
The new equipment installed includes an Eos Apex 5, two Apex FP consoles, two Ion XE 20 control systems, a Programming Wing, an ETC Puck, Fader Wings, and Source Four LED Series 2 fixtures. These are combined with a fully integrated infrastructure featuring ETC Response Gateways and a Sensor3 ThruPower dimming system, giving the team complete control over color, intensity, and cues throughout the venue and on international tours.
Lighting Engineer Wouter Pieters commented on the decision: “ETC stood out for its color engine and overall quality. The system allows for extremely precise control, exactly what we needed at ITA. The hardware, especially the encoders, is incredibly useful—we can now use 14 encoders, whereas previously we had far fewer. With ETC, everything you need is in a single console.”
With ETC’s lighting control system now in place, the theatre has enhanced the quality of its performances while delivering a better experience for audiences across all productions.
