Thomas Gerdon, lighting designer for one of Germany’s most popular television shows, Verstehen sie Spass, used a substantial rig of Ayrton lighting fixtures to light the live broadcast from Munich’s Bavaria Studios no 9 in April.

Harman International announces its intent to relocate its Martin Professional lighting production facility currently in Frederikshavn, Denmark to Hungary. Lighting headquarter remains in Aarhus and Martin’s smoke machine factory in the UK would not be affected by the relocation.

Finland’s Hartwall Arena features an innovative LED video system integrated with its ice hockey rink. equipment designer, manufacturer and supplier, ICEPRO OY, created a concept to integrate lighting within the stanchions supporting the rink’s glass safety dividers and worked with the A/V Integration firm, Studiotec, to develop a lighting design that included more than 940 of Martin Professional VC-Strip LED video fixtures.

Based outside Turku, Finnish loudspeaker manufacturer Aura Audio Oy is using the magic of Powersoft’s M-Force’s electromagnetic conversion principle to power its XD30 subwoofer; this was pressed into action at the recent high profile Colors dance festival at Kaapelitehdas, the former cable factory in Helsinki — with devastating effect !

Paul McCartney delighted more than 45,000 fans during his recent concert in Jamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul, South Korea. Sound Solution, Adamson’s distributor in South Korea, and Tristar, sound system provider, coordinated the Adamson sound reinforcement system for the concert utilizing gear and manpower from network partners in the region.

Lighting was designed and directed by the band’s long term LD Candace Brightman, who started with them in 1972. Paul Hoffman of Pulse Lighting LLC provided programming, equipment selection and moral support. The pair have collaborated on the Grateful Dead since 2004. Central to the large lighting rig were 50 x Robe BMFL Spots and 32 x Pointes.

This July, 200,000 visitors from around the world descended on the quite beautiful Lake Geneva setting for the 49th Montreux Jazz Festival, a two-week musical treat featuring performances from a string of eclectic, internationally renowned artists spanning a whole host of genres, from Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, to Lenny Kravitz, Lionel Richie, Toto, and Carlos Santana.

Stagelight AG of Switzerland has been celebrating the receipt of the very first Robert Juliat Merlin followspots to roll off the production line. Merlin is Robert Juliat’s new 2500W HMI sturdy followspot designed specifically for the touring market.

Last April, at Prolight+Sound, Ayrton presented their motorized video panel, DreamPanel Shift, and its counterpart, DreamPanel Twin, a moving-head, dual-faced video/light panel. The group of gifted young French video and light designers, All Access Design, was contacted by Ayrton and responded to the manufacturer's request for a show program that highlights both the technical and artistic aspects of the panels.

Novelty is equipped with 48 x P-5 wash lights, 6 x G-Spots and 12 x Q-7 RGBW color LED flood blind strobes.The very first trial between Novelty and SGM was with the G-Spot. They carried out a so-called crash test, using the G-spot on the ice rink of Paris City Hall during three cold winter months.

To bring new life to the classic piece for the Royal Danish Opera (RDO), Hübbe and Schandorff called upon Finnish Designer, Mikki Kunttu to develop an original lighting, video and set design. Kunttu’s minimalistic set design meant that every element played a significant role in bringing the production to life, including Martin’s VC-Strips and MAC Viper Profile lighting fixtures.

Ayrton MagicDot™-R, one of the latest products from innovative French LED lighting manufacturer, Ayrton, made its US debut with Bruno Mars at Rock In Rio Las Vegas in May. Lighting designer Cory FitzGerald of Seven Design Works used a huge configuration of 184 of the new fixtures on the singer’s closing performance at this year’s festival which was hosted for the first time in the US. FitzGerald’s design also featured an array of 128 Ayrton IntelliPix™-R panels.

The crowd gasped when Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl toppled offstage during a show on June 12 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Grohl, however, quickly showed the single-minded perseverance that has led him to success in music and documentary filmmaking. Shortly after being helped off stage for medical attention, he was back in front of the crowd—seated this time—singing and playing guitar while a doctor held his leg in place.
