Roxx Neo FX and Neo Mini

Text: Jérôme Boutié – Video: Allison Cussigh & Roxx – Translation: Ted Hall

German brand Roxx has set its sights on the Prolight+Sound 2025 to launch two IP65 wash lights bursting with vitality. The ultra-versatile Neo FX with motorized tilt and zoom and the ultra-compact Neo Mini. Bruno Souchaud, newly appointed Managing Director of the French branch, presents them to us.

Neo FX

A powerful motorized-tilt wash panel, Neo FX draws its versatility from its 24 independently controllable LED sources, its motorized zoom from 4.5° to 30°, and a progressive frost filter at the output offering a second zoom level (patent pending).

This fixture is thus capable of having a tight or wide wash, with animated beams, light curtain, pixel mapping, strobe and, blinder… and all of this with colors of course.

Twenty-four sources each combine a 40W RGBW LED with a square lens. A “Smart Glass Filter,” which includes two contacts, magnetically attaches to the optical output. This filter allows for progressive frost control, ranging from clear for 3D beam effects to diffused, which increases the zoom amplitude up to 70° and displays the square pixels of the lenses, thereby producing 2D animations.
In basic wash mode, Neo FX produces a light output of 12,000 lumens and an illumination of 57,000 lux at 5 m for 5,600 K. Its head is motorized in tilt (188°) and its IP65 classification protects it from all types of weather constraints.

Neo FX is controlled via DMX-RDM, sACN, and Art-Net, with a dual-input mode that allows for more flexible split control of basic lighting and pixel effects. It incorporates a CRMX receiver for wireless control, an NFC chip, and a Bluetooth module that allows it to be controlled via the Roxx.APP application. The hardware allows for the creation of in-line or cluster assemblies, easily and quickly.

Neo Mini

The Neo Mini is the direct successor to the Neo (wash). The Neo was a super-powered, IP65-rated LED panel with 24 x 40W RGB+Lime sources. The compact Neo Mini version is still very powerful, featuring 10 x 60W RGB+Lime pixels that produce over 20,000 lumens. In other words, it’s seriously bright!

This light is natively focused at 8°, making it the perfect ally for long-distance applications. But the Neo Mini can easily be transformed into a wide-angle LED wash.
The manufacturer offers a multitude of optional filters: 10°, 15°, 0°, and 80°, as well as two elliptical filters: 10°x60° / 60°x10°. A cassette equipped with barndoors can, like the previous filters, be magnetically attached to the head of the fixture.
Both types of accessories are, of course, stackable. Regarding colors, the manufacturer indicates that the Neo Mini achieves a CRI and TLCI of 85, while white can be adjusted between 2000 and 10,000 kelvins.

Let’s move on to the controls. Here again, the Neo has nothing to envy its competitors. It receives DMX-RDM via wired and wireless signals via a CRMX module. A Bluetooth module also allows it to communicate with a smartphone. Speaking of smartphones, our Mini also features NFC.

This transition is a perfect opportunity to talk about handling. Roxx has equipped the Neo Mini with a well-designed control panel, and the user/machine interface is greatly facilitated by the multitude of direct-access buttons integrated around the screen.

Weighing only 7.5 kg, the Neo Mini will most likely find its audience among service providers or installers looking for a good compromise between weight, size, and power.
