The Learned Parrot and the Fallible Neuron

Text: Ludovic Monchat

Let’s do things the modern way this year. Like everyone else, we thought we’d entrust our best wishes to the learned parrot by prompting: “Chat, write me the New Year wishes and 2026 outlook for SoundLightUp, the online magazine dedicated to the technical world of live performance and events.”
Uh… after reading the result – which you can test for yourself – we’ll pass. It’s just reheated shepherd’s pie made from our previous editorials, more consensual, repetitive, flat, and flavorless. And above all, it loses the essential thing: you.

So, emerging from the depths of our human minds—fallible and slow, yet capable of letting spirit and heart speak—we wish you a year in which your ideas will carry you forward, your talent will be recognized and put to use, artists and producers will provide you with abundant resources, your tools will never let you down, manufacturers will support your projects even better, your body will stay in fighting shape, your boss will reward your risk-taking, and your loved ones will be your best allies and love you all the more because you’re having a blast. In short, a year of plenty.

Of course, on both the national and international scale, not everything is rosy. But in true French fashion, we’re going to look on the bright side and keep carrying, supporting, and elevating the culture we all love and that is so important to people’s morale—through dazzling, unforgettable shows and products that make you want to put on a great performance. SoundLightUp, for its part, will continue to listen to you, amplify your voices, inform you, and applaud you. We love doing that.

Finally, thank you for your trust. And once again, hats off to the artists of networks, DSPs, CPUs, and everything that makes up our everyday digital and dazzling world. We’ll still give the learned parrot another try next year—you never know if we might run out of ideas—but until then, let’s trust in real human creativity: the true one, yours.
