The famous MegaPointe hybrid beam/spot moving light is now available in a brand-new version, boosted by a laser light source and IP65 protection. RoboSpot also integrates many new features, and the MySvopatt on a motorized yoke has been announced.
In this video, Vincent Bouquet, Technical Director at Robe France, explains the main features of the GigaPointe, winner of two SLU Innovation Awards.

GigaPointe
Giga! This designation goes beyond a simple upgrade. Robe introduces an entirely new fixture that now joins the laser-source category. Featuring a 350 W white laser light engine, it delivers the high level of beam uniformity for which the MegaPointe is renowned. Switching to a laser source helps correct certain aspects and irregularities previously created by a lamp source. In the GigaPointe, prisms integrated within the light source manage beam distribution, allowing either a concentrated hot spot for long throw or a more even, uniform light.
This function, which has earned an SLU Innovation Award, corresponds to a specific development of the source both internally and at the output. It has been the subject of a patent filing. Light output can even exceed 4,000,000 lux at 5 m (almost double that of the MegaPointe). This is one of the key challenges successfully met by Robe’s engineers: offering lighting designers a technically enhanced version of the fixture without losing its DNA.
Looking at its dimensions, the differences are minimal: only 1.5 cm more and 3 kg heavier. Visually, they look almost identical! Inside, the beast integrates nearly the same functions as its predecessor, zoom (1.8° – 21° in Beam mode and 3° – 42° in Spot mode), CMY + color wheel, with just a few differences.
Inherited from the iBOLT, the effects palette includes the Spektrabeam (a stunning fan of colored beams). In terms of patterns, the most commonly used gobos from the MegaPointe have been retained, with the addition of several new designs.

To run a show programmed for MegaPointe fixtures on GigaPointe units, the DMX charts of both fixtures are identical, with only minor differences such as additional values on certain GigaPointe channels for hot spot control. Technical service providers will appreciate this flexibility, which also allows both references to be mixed within the same lighting rig.
They will also appreciate the Laser’s Class 1 and its GR2 (risk group) rating, identical to that of the MegaPointe. This is another great innovation. In other words, the GigaPointe poses no greater risk to the eyes than its lamp-based predecessor, so it can be used worldwide, in France, the US, or other countries with strict regulations, without the need for special authorizations. Another Robe patent application.
The GigaPointe uses the same protection and dehumidification technology as other IP-rated fixtures in the Robe catalogue. However, it features a brand-new internal air treatment system designed to filter impurities that may enter the fixture when opening the covers, preventing deposits on gobos, filters, and optics. This new laser “droid” is also faster and more responsive. The first units will be delivered in spring.
RoboSpot

New features are included in the latest RoboSpot update and there are plenty of them! The main screen now displays more controllable parameters such as the iris or fixture color change, depending on the selected freedom level (fully controlled from RoboSpot, shared control between lighting console and RoboSpot, or fully controlled from the console).
We can now activate LT mode directly from the base (on compatible fixtures). The screen displays the presence or absence of the DMX signal from the console. PAN/TILT movement speed can now be assigned to the targeting crosshair. It is possible to reset the various fixture modules without a console connection.
Finally, RoboSpot is now equipped with Pixel Follower. This add-on allows the activation of pixels on Tetra or Footsie fixtures by defining zones (a bit like MDC) when aiming at these fixtures and it’s impressively effective!
MySvopatt
We couldn’t end this brief overview without announcing the arrival of MySvopatt — a Svopatt mounted on a Moving Yoke (motorized pan/tilt yoke). A few units were already integrated into the Robe show at ISE 2026.
