Adamson Expands Install-Focused IS-SERIES

Un array de IS 10

Adamson Systems Engineering is launching the IS10 and IS119 installation-tailored loudspeakers at InfoComm 2017, the larger siblings to the highly-acclaimed IS7 and IS118 cabinets introduced earlier this year.
“The IS-SERIES puts the technology and performance of Adamson’s revered touring products, including Kevlar drivers, into an exterior design specifically developed for the architectural market, offering architects and designers outstanding audio performance and rider acceptance that blends perfectly into the aesthetics of the venue,” comments Brian Fraser, Adamson’s Senior Applications Engineer and Product Manager.

Brian Fraser

“The IS-SERIES is perfectly suited for a wide range of applications, including performing arts centers, live performance venues, sports venues, conference centers, and houses of worship.”
The IS10 is a two-way, full-range line array cabinet containing two ND10-LM, 10” Kevlar Neodymium drivers and an NH4TA2, 1.4” exit compression driver. The critically optimized waveguide produces a slightly curved wavefront with a nominal dispersion pattern of 110° x 10° (H x V).

l’IS10

The waveguide’s efficiency allows for increased vertical dispersion without sacrificing high-frequency presence in the far field while the patent-pending Controlled Summation Technology further eliminates the low-mid lobing normally associated with two-way line source systems.

Une preuve de la remarquable directivité horizontale grâce à la CST. On tient les 110° jusqu’à 250 Hz

For ultra-precise impulse response, the companion IS119 subwoofer is loaded with a lightweight, long excursion 19” ND19 Kevlar Neodymium driver utilizing Adamson’s Advanced Cone Architecture and a 5” voice coil for exceptional power handling. It is mounted in an ultra-efficient, front-loaded enclosure, designed to reproduce clean, musical low-frequency information. The grill profile of the IS119 has been replicated in the rear of the cabinet, allowing for cardioid deployments that appear visually identical from the audience’s perspective.

L’IS119

The IS-SERIES cabinet construction uses marine-grade birch plywood and aircraft-grade steel. All IS-SERIES products come standard with two NL4 connections and can also be ordered with barrier strips. A plate-and-screw rigging solution is recessed in the interior of the rear rigging fins for easy installation. The IS-SERIES is available in a standard black and white, with RAL colors available on demand. The IS10 and IS119 will begin shipping in late Summer 2017.

Martin Provides Creative Lighting Solutions for 3 Doors Down World Tour

LabeLive and lighting designer Jay Branson deploy MAC Axiom Hybrid, Quantum Profile and Aura fixtures to create a unique stage design for the band’s World tour. In support of their long-awaited album “Us and the Night,” multi-platinum-selling group 3 Doors Down embarked on a world tour to bring the album to life both sonically and visually.
Leading audiovisual rental company LabeLive provided lighting designer and director Jay Branson of TwoPairCreative LLC with Martin MAC Axiom Hybrid, MAC Quantum Profile and MAC Aura fixtures. Branson utilized the fixtures to define a unique stage aesthetic, deliver high-impact lighting experiences and overcome rigging challenges at theaters around the globe.

Josh Berry, President of LabeLive worked closely with the 3 Doors Down lighting team to outfit the U.S. leg of the tour. Throughout his 20-year experience with Martin, Berry has been able to provide countless lighting teams with quality fixtures that withstand the rigors of touring and provide quality lighting experiences every step of the way. “I’ve been working with Martin products for over 20 years—they are a staple in the industry,” said Berry. “These fixtures were specifically requested by 3 Doors Down, and they haven’t had any problems with the products. When it comes to reliability, serviceability, the abilities of the fixtures, Martin just makes more sense. Because Martin fixtures are so reliable, we are able to provide quality products to great acts like 3 Doors Down and help create memorable shows.”

Photo : Ashley Mae Wright (@ashleymaewright)

“I can sum up why we chose Martin fixtures in one word—reliability,” said Branson. “The gear is absolutely rock solid. We haven’t had a single problem with any of our fixtures during the whole tour, and some of them ride in the truck without cases just on pre-rigged trusses, and we’ve never had one go down. I love that my head elect can set up the rig, and when I sit down at the console it’ll work perfectly.”
In addition to requiring dependable fixtures, Branson also needed a lighting solution that could help them realize their creative goals. Branson and his lighting team worked closely with the band members and tour manager Gary Pettus to design a lighting rig that would recreate elements of the “Us and the Night” album cover and bring new creative accents to the stage. The design they chose required lighting fixtures that were small enough to easily fit into tight spaces without sacrificing light intensity. Martin fixtures were chosen for their streamlined form, powerful performance and reliability to ultimately create the center piece of the stage: five custom, built, oversized lanterns hanging in front of a forest backdrop.

Photo : Ashley Mae Wright (@ashleymaewright)

“We wanted to put lights in the lanterns, but didn’t know of any light that could do the job,” continued Branson. “At a festival this summer with 3 Doors Down, the crew showed me a video of Martin MAC Axiom Hybrids, and I immediately called the band to tell them ‘I found the light!’ They checked it out and loved it.”
The full 3 Doors Down lighting rig is comprised of MAC Axiom Hybrids in each of the lanterns, along with 15 MAC Quantum Profiles for aerial effects (eight upstage and seven mid-stage), and eight MAC Auras under the drum riser.
During the European leg of the tour, eight MAC Quantum Profile Wash fixtures were used for drum lighting.. “I don’t know of any other light that’s as versatile as MAC Axiom Hybrid,” said Branson. “Ordinary fixtures lose at least 50% of their intensity when zoomed all the way out. MAC Axiom Hybrid carries the same intensity when it’s wide as it does at a pinpoint. I can even throw a gobo on at full zoom and light up the entire lantern. It’s the only light that delivered the performance we wanted and fit in the space our design required.”

Photo : Ashley Mae Wright (@ashleymaewright)

Overall, Branson was impressed not only by the MAC Axiom Hybrids but also the MAC Quantum Profiles. “In my opinion, Quantum Profiles are the best profile lights on the market,” said Branson. “I’m amazed by how bright they are, and the fact that it’s an LED is incredible. I can cut straight through strobe hits. The gobos are great. They look great in the air, are super-fast and light weight. And on top of all that, they’re reliable. They’re just great lights, and I love the way they perform”.
Martin lights also helped Branson and his team overcome weight restriction issues at a variety of venues. “Weight is always a challenge,” said Branson. “When we play theaters, we have to hang fixtures on house pipes, and in some older theaters we are hanging on pin-rails which have a really low weight limit. We needed fixtures that were lighter weight, but still provided the intense performance needed for a rock show—MAC Axiom Hybrid was the answer.”

Ayrton fixtures praised by Church on KoЯn European tour

Grammy-award-winning, nu metal band, KoЯn, embarks on a tour of mainland Europe in March, starting in Zurich and culminating in Slovakia in April, with a set that features Ayrton MagicPanel™-R fixtures as the focal point.
The 17-date tour follows on from North American and UK legs which were supplied by Morpheus Lights in the US and Neg Earth in the UK respectively, with Black Box of Germany assisting for the forthcoming Europe leg. KoЯn’s lighting designer, Thomas ‘Church’ Christmann, supplemented the North American tours with 20 Ayrton NandoBeam™-S9 and 6 Ayrton MagicBlade™-R fixtures for KoЯn’s sets in the Return of the Dreads & Nocturnal Underground tours.
Church designed his lighting to work in combination with a large, rectangular back video wall, by deploying 56 MagicPanel™-R fixtures, complete with mirror kits, in five 4×3 arrays across five step risers which back the band and frame the drum kit: “Everything in the design is straight and the MagicPanel-R fixtures fit perfectly into it,” he says. “The straight beam of the panels and their position within the design make a perfect overall picture.”

Photo © Sebastien Paquet sml

To meet the quick turnarounds that touring with a variety of other bands demands, Church was able to incorporate the MagicPanel-R units into a versatile floor package that was simple to set up, manoeuvre on stage and transport. ‘It is the fastest way to deploy them and the safest way to transport them on dollies,” he says.
Church reveals the reasoning behind his choice of Ayrton’s MagicPanel-R: “I needed a flat beam fixture to complement the straight lines of the design and was impressed by the output of the Ayrton MagicPanel-R. I made the design for the first tour and the band really liked the result of the show and the design, so we held on to it. I’ve used them on all KoЯn tours in 2016 now and am continuing to do so. I’ve become a big fan of the Ayrton fixture family.”
The decision has borne out and Church notes how easy the fixtures are to justify, based on ease of use and tour-worthiness, “I’ve used them on three different tours, each time trucking and travelling on the risers. In all that time, I’ve only had to replace one fixture.” As for the set up, he states, “It was pretty simple to set up the MagicPanels, and the programming on pixel mapping works solidly. I really like the idea with the mirror kit in the back and they’ve piqued a lot of interest with the other guys on tour. All my system techs like working with the MagicPanel-R. It is easy to set up and connect, and the manufacture is legit!”

Photo © Sebastien Paquet sml

Church controls the panels from a Chamsys MagicQ 100 Pro 2014 lighting desk, run in extended mode via Art-Net. Using a combination of the desk’s internal pixel mapping options and the MagicPanels’ own macro patterns, Church explains, “I’m using all the options I can imagine – from a big white light wall to tiny dots moving around. I can create frames or movement effects, and the endless pan/tilt motion is a great effect.”
He continues, “The panels fit perfectly to the sound of the band, which involves many peaks and dips. Originally, my intention was to use the panels for their unique qualities of endless rotation, brightness and beamshape, but I discovered the quality and effects achievable from a washlight with square pixel mapping ability finally sealed my decision. The MagicPanel-R supports all the atmospheres and moods I need to create a picture of lights to complement the sound.” Church is full of praise for the MagicPanel-R fixtures, and concludes, “I’m already planning my next design with Ayrton fixtures, I’d use them every time.”

Claypaky Scenius Unico takes centre stage at Eurovision 2017

Internationally renowned lighting designer and director of photography Jerry Appelt specified the new Claypaky Scenius Unico as the main stage workhorse fixture for his richly composed lighting design for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, hosted at the International Exhibition Centre, Kyiv, Ukraine.
This year, 42 countries participated in the global TV phenomenon, each supported by a striking stage and light show embracing video, special effects and a procession of scenic props and costumes, all of which combined to make the lighting of this world famous event an ever more challenging proposition.

Photo : ©Ralph-Larmann

Taking up that challenge for the third time, Appelt’s lighting solution was born from a creative collaboration with scenic designer Florian Wieder. This was centred around a fresh take on the Proscenium arch, which curved majestically from upstage, and was further complemented by a video floor and an arena-wide LED video backdrop. Appelt harmonised this with an entirely kinetic rig, based around a huge, three-dimensional structure affectionately known as the ‘Beehive’.
Saturated with lighting and media technology, the Beehive hung above centre stage, behind Wieder’s arching scenic projection surface and in front of the video backdrop to offer a versatile central focus to the stage lighting. This in turn was encircled by layers of curved, automated truss elements, all carrying Scenius Unico, equipped with OSRAM Lok-it! HTI 1400/PS lamps

Photo : ©Ralph-Larmann

“My primary goal was to design a lighting architecture that could be as multifunctional as a Swiss army knife!” explains Appelt. “I needed a rig that was supremely flexible from all perspectives and that would also look good on TV. It had to offer an inexhaustible selection of looks for the cameras.
Every truss is automated with a view to creating countless singular spaces by manipulating light, shadow and darkness, height and depth, angle and colour, hard and soft beams.”
This need for flexibility also influenced Appelt’s choice of the Scenius Unico: “I needed a workhorse that could perform the role of two, maybe even three different types of fixture, without compromising on colour, output, mechanical precision or effects,” stresses Appelt. “The Scenius Unico was the only solution because it is so versatile; it can be a spot, a wash or a beam light, it is also high output and relatively compact in size and weight.”

Photo : ©Ralph-Larmann

The Scenius Unico, supplied to Eurovision by global lighting, video and rigging expert PRG, provided Appelt with a superior quality of light and 6500 K output colour temperature to work alongside the production’s considerable video output. Appelt could shape the light’s beam to within a fraction of a centimetre through its advanced framing system, currently one of the most advanced on the market.
“I primarily used the Scenius Unico as a beam light. I needed a fixture that could deliver a consistent colour range, a bright output and enabled me to convey a wide variety of different looks; the Scenius Unico does this. It also offers a rich colour palette, it’s super bright and it has an old fashioned, punchy beam replete with hot spot, which I love and is perfect for this kind of show.”

Photo : ©Ralph-Larmann

Ola Melzig, head of production for Eurovision, agrees:
“One of Jerry’s biggest challenges is to balance the lighting and the high-power video for cameras. This demands a high impact fixture with great features, fantastic output and a lovely quality of light that stands apart from the rest of the lighting and video in the room. To that end, Jerry was insistent that he have the Scenius Unico. We love the colour, especially for TV and I, as a production manager, love the relatively low weight and the pleasing ratio of high light output to low power consumption. It’s a very powerful design tool, but for me it’s also very cost-effective.”
In the end, thousands enjoyed three spectacular live shows at Kyiv’s International Exhibition Centre, while over 200 million viewers tuned in on television on the night. On YouTube, records were broken as the Grand Final was watched by some 4 million people. On the night of the Final, 26 acts sang their hearts out on stage, but there could only be one winner -and that was Portugal’s Salvador Sobral.

Capital Sound invests in SSL Live

Capital Sound, one of the largest UK-based live sound hire companies, is adding Solid State Logic L200 and L500 live consoles to its inventory. The consoles are being been supplied by UK professional audio specialist HD Pro Audio.
Capital Sound initially decided to invest in L500 to support “The Killers” Front of House Engineer, Kenny Kaiser, on the European leg of the band’s current worldwide tour. Kaiser uses a lot of the console’s unique attributes, such as fully processed stem groups, the SSL FX Rack, AutoMix (multiple lead vocal mics), and the tube effect that is included in every processed path.

“We’ve had our eye on the SSL consoles for a long time, but felt that we needed a lower price point for a large section of our client base,” says Paul Timmins, General Manager at Capital Sound. “The L200 is right where we need it to be. This is now a family of surfaces that suit all of our requirements, from large tours like The Killers to many other clients that we’d like to introduce to SSL Live.”
How and when Capital Sound invests in new equipment very much depends on the size of that investment, and the specific need. Timmins : “With high-end consoles we generally buy them for specific projects, providing the project has a reasonable duration, and that forms a solid foundation for the future. With smaller consoles, we look at what they can offer the company and how they fit into the bigger picture. We see the L200 as being an important part of our inventory of mid-priced consoles into the future.”

From left to right, Nathan Hernando (Business Development Manager, SSL Live), Andy Huffer (Sales Director, HD Pro Audio), Robin Conway (Project Manager, Capital Sound), and Paul Timmins (General Manager, Capital Sound) on Prolight+Sound SSL booth.

Robin Conway is the Project Manager at Capital Sound, and feels that the new L200 has a ready-made audience: “It’s the right price, it’s the right rental cost, it has the great SSL heritage, and it doesn’t feel like a smaller console… It feels as big as its big brothers. It has the right number of faders, the screen is high quality… Everything about it screams quality, and yet it’s in a price point that’s now affordable for at least 60 percent of our client base.”
HD Pro Audio’s Andy Huffer is confident that the SSL L200 will have a big impact on the touring market, exposing more Engineers to the sound, flexibility, and power of SSL Live: “For four years now we’ve been trying to cover the market with the L500, a real top-end console that requires a big project to make it a good value proposition. Now we think the introduction of the L200 will accelerate SSL’s popularity in touring.
It will create that required group experience of how an SSL console works, how good it sounds, and so on. That will then drive demand for the more powerful consoles as they are needed. Not every engineer starts his career on an arena tour with the most expensive kit. While the L200 certainly isn’t in the low end or cheap end of the market, it’s definitely a more accessible first step.”
Capital Sound has been in business for over 30 years, serving European and international live music at festivals and all scales of tour sound. “Capital sound is a respected brand,” says Timmins. “We only do sound rental, we do what we know best. We offer a friendly, personal service. Everything we do is bespoke-designed so ultimately we like to think that the customer is getting exceptional value for money, both in design services and the kit we’re supplying.”

In Miami

Electro-Voice delivers sound systems at Hard Rock Stadium

Hard Rock Stadium is owned by, and home to, the NFL Miami Dolphins. It also hosts University of Miami football and major entertainment events throughout the year. As part of a three-year, facility-wide renovation, the re-named facility now boasts a massively upgraded sound system by Electro-Voice.
With the stadium’s addition of a roof and massive video displays, crowd noise levels are substantially higher than the original open-air design, making even coverage critical, both in terms of SPL and frequency response. In addition to the primary task of improving the fan experience through better audio, the sound system is also used for mass notification of life safety information.

The Dolphins selected Diversified Systems to design and integrate the system, charging them with the task of overcoming increased levels due to roof reflections while delivering both vocal intelligibility and musical fidelity.
Drawing from all parts of the diverse yet sonically matched Electro-Voice loudspeaker portfolio, the installation delivers concert-quality sound via 186 XLCi-127DVX line array elements, weatherized and integrated into custom-engineered frames to withstand extreme storm and wind conditions.

These are augmented by EVF-1122S front-loaded loudspeakers and EVH-1152D long-throw loudspeakers to cover hard-to-reach zones like corner seating areas. In addition, 48 dual 18-inch subwoofers, custom designed for the project, add an exciting bass element that was absent in the stadium’s previous system.
An ongoing installation challenge was the management of the installation across the renovation’s phased construction timeline, requiring ongoing support of the legacy sound system while the new Electro-Voice system was being installed, tuned, tested, and deployed.
To ensure even coverage throughout all seating areas, EASE modeling and intelligibility plots were critical tools in selecting the appropriate loudspeakers and their placement. Two Electro-Voice NetMax N8000 digital matrix controllers allowed the integration team to apply FIR filtering to optimize loudspeakers as needed and appropriate.

In addition to the primary task of improving the fan experience through better audio, the sound system is also used for mass notification of life safety information. Electro-Voice ceiling and surface-mount loudspeakers ensure smooth, continuous coverage in luxury suites, concourses, restrooms, offices, and all public areas throughout the stadium. This task required approximately 1800 ZX1i indoor/outdoor loudspeakers and over 1000 EVID ceiling-mounted designs selected from EV’s wide range of options.

The Dolphins team are pleased to report that the system has exceeded their performance expectations while meeting budget and timing requirements. The system is at its best when the stadium is full, enhancing the fan experience with clear, effortless coverage, and rising to the occasion to amplify crowd energy in big moments.
Whether deployed for sporting events or major concert events, Hard Rock Stadium offers a winning combination of full-range fidelity, comprehensive coverage, and high intelligibility that plays a key role in transforming the venue into global entertainment destination for large-scale events.

The German rap group Beginner on tour with GLP

Just in time to celebrate their 25th anniversary, and after six years of stage absence, German rap group Beginner are back. Eizi Eiz, Denyo and DJ Mad sound as fresh as ever with their brand new album, Advanced Chemistry.

Their fans had to wait a long time for a new album, after it had been speculated over and over when the new release from this Hamburg trio would actually be available. The first signs suggested 2010, then 2011 and finally 2012 — but still the fans had to wait a further four years for the release.
But the wait was well worth it, and with the arrival of the album in August 2016, the tour dates were also announced. The first leg of 14 dates toured Germany in November and December and from March 2017 onwards, a further 16 dates have been scheduled, with box offices reporting almost sold out venues already.

Bertil Mark is responsible for the lighting design on this tour. He has dipped extensively into GLP’s portfolio — in particular the new GT-1 hybrid lamp, of which 70 fixtures alone have been used. “I like the feel and punch of these multi-fixtures. I was traveling with Rammstein for the first time in the summer with these lamps and their flexibility convinced me immediately. It’s no problem at all to produce either tight, rich beams or nice mid-air effects,” says Bertil Mark about the impression GT-1, with its impressive continuous zoom ratio of 2.5 to 55 degrees.

In addition to taking advantage of the 440 watt Osram Sirius HRI discharge lamp, Bertil Mark is also setting the standard in his use of GLP’s LED models from the impression series during this tour. The fixture count shows 56 impression X4 Bar 20 and 24 impression X4, both of which have long been a part of Mark’s portfolio on different designs. “The Impression X4 Bars I have used for quite some time, but I am always fascinated by the effects that are possible,” he says.
For Beginner, the Bars are used in different locations — on the stage edge in the rig, and in Diamond-shaped design elements directly above the artists. I think it is nice to be able to make interesting light angles,” says the designer in explaining his idea. A total of 24 impression X4, each containing 19 RGBW LEDs and a 7-50 ° zoom, have been tripod-mounted by Bertil Mark on the sides of the stage. These provide color and movement throughout the set.

Users can monitor the electronic parameters of amplifiers over a wireless network, in real or past-time, and store the data as a log. It also makes it easier to exploit advanced sensing functions in the NXAMP which help protect loudspeaker cabinets.

An offline mode is now available (in the macOS version). The user can create offline devices, edit their settings and later match them to online devices, using a device identification feature. Using custom control panels, users can create interfaces which offer an extraordinary level of control, described by Nexo Sales Manager Gareth Collyer as “a complete game-changer for the use of NXAMPs.”

NeMo version 2.0 now embraces Nexo’s new DTD Controller, allowing the remote-control of one or several DTDs simultaneously, including preset, patch, EQ, compressor, gain and delay editing, as well as level monitoring.
First launched on the IOS platform in 2013, this new version of NeMo sees every feature now replicated for macOS, so that users have the choice of going wired or wireless.
NeMo version 2.0 brings a lot more to the party, such as zones, alert emailing, automatic update of preset libraries, EQ library, as well as improved performance and stability.

Nexo’s primary distribution, rental and installation partner in the UK, Orbital Sound, has given an enthusiastic thumbs-up to the new release. According to MD Chris Headlam, “the speed and responsiveness of the application when working online is very impressive, as is its sheer power and ease-of-use.
This NeMo release has a beautifully-crafted Mac and iPad look and feel that can be used concurrently on 3 devices seamlessly.” Orbital’s Sales Director Andy Simmons added that,” to all our questions, the answer was yes. Everything has been carefully thought through by the designer – it is the complete package.”

ETC lighting solution for the Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama

Situated at the University of Manchester’s campus, the Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama recently underwent a significant refit, including the installation of a control desk, LED luminaires and power controls from ETC, all supplied and installed by Stage Electrics.

Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall

An important arts venue for north-west England, the Martin Harris Centre offers students a fantastic space in which to study and perform, as well as hosting many professional musicians, performers and prize-winning authors. It provides an excellent space for contemporary and classic theatre, music and comedy events, and holds a reading series that has in the past featured such literary luminaries as Martin Amis, Will Self, John Banville and Clive James.
The project, which was made possible due to significant funding from the Faculty of Humanities, is part of a campus-wide initiative that supports the University’s commitment to environmental sustainability and saw a complete overhaul of the lighting in the venue’s Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall and John Thaw Studio Theatre.

Longstanding supplier to the University, Stage Electrics was appointed to design, specify and install a complete lighting system for the two multipurpose facilities. Karl Spencer, the venue’s technical services manager, worked closely with Stage Electrics’ Rob Beamer and Karl Formstone to ensure the right solution was selected and installed.
“Energy efficiency was a driving factor in this project, but there were other points to consider too, like flexibility,” says Rob Beamer.
“The venue hosts a lot of classical concerts where maximum light levels are critical, whereas colour rendering and colour mixing capability is important for lighting dramatic performances, for example. For power controls, space was at a premium, so we had to bear that in mind too.”

The comprehensive solution, specified following extensive demonstrations between Stage Electrics and the University, includes an Ion® console with two fader wings; a Unison Paradigm® power control system; Sensor® dimmers with ThruPower modules; and an array of ColorSource® PAR, Source Four® LED Series 2 Lustr® and Daylight HD fixtures and a comprehensive state-of-the-art house lighting system from GDS.

Rob Beamer adds: “We put a lot of time into getting it right. The challenge was to deliver a versatile, energy-efficient lighting solution to maximise the experience for both performer and audience, without compromising on quality. And I think we have succeeded.”
Karl Spencer, the Martin Harris Centre’s technical services manager said, “As part of this extensive lighting project, our spaces have been converted to energy-efficient LED, for both lighting performances and house lighting. The end result is excellent and our performers and audiences alike are already enjoying the improved lighting. The installation offers us a flexible, efficient and sustainable lighting solution which underpins the University’s environmental sustainability strategy.”

L-Acoustics Launches Its First Avnu-certified Systems

L-Acoustics announces that the LA12X amplified controller is the first L-Acoustics product to receive Avnu certification, the LA4X will also receive certification in the coming weeks.
A member of the Avnu Alliance since 2015, L-Acoustics has committed its development resources to open standard AVB technology, which streamlines network infrastructure by combining audio signal transmission with system control and monitoring.

The Avnu-certified LA12X and LA4X amplified controllers include built-in AVB bridge functionality, reducing the need for additional costly networking equipment and facilitating set-up and interoperability of systems. Together, they are the first Avnu-certified amplified controllers to be launched with both Bridge and Listener technology. To accompany LA12X and LA4X, LA Network Manager software is also updated with an AVB controller, which eases connection with other systems and integrates seamlessly via an easy and natural user interface.
“We’re proud to be the first manufacturer to provide a combined AVB bridge and listener capacity with our flagship amplified controllers,” said Genio Kronauer, director of electronics at L-Acoustics. “Enabled by our membership in Avnu Alliance, we have implemented AVB technology and certified it for interoperability and compliance, which ensures our products are future-proof and increases the value of our partners’ investments in L-Acoustics systems. By participating in an open community like Avnu, we also have a voice in the advancement of the technologies for our industry.”
The amplified controllers with new AVB-enabled firmware are currently in a pilot phase with select L-Acoustics partners and will be rolled out widely this spring. All LA4X amplified controllers manufactured since June 2015 and all LA12X ship AVB-ready, which means that L-Acoustics partners will benefit from AVB via a simple firmware update. LA4X manufactured before June 2015 will require an updated DSP card, available through L-Acoustics’ service team.

“We are excited to have L-Acoustics products join the Avnu-certified ecosystem,” said Avnu Alliance President, Gary Stuebing. “Avnu certification ensures a combination of features and ease of use that will offer tremendous benefits to integrators who want to easily integrate powerful, cost-effective networked audio solutions.”

“Naked Truth” with 64 G-Spot SGM – creative takeover of a construction site

The creative agency ACTLD of light and visual design based in Brussels, imagined a light & sound show in an unusual place – a construction site on the banks of the canal in Brussels.
During four evenings of “Bright Brussels Festival” and far from the sites and monuments well known to the general public, ACTLD’s designers were able to offer a new creation and a memorable experience to nearly 30,000 visitors.

“Naked Truth” is a full-scale light & sound show that dresses up places with a poetic and contemporary atmosphere. The light effects, the special effects and the music are in perfect harmony with the industrial spirit of the site. Placed on a water-flooded ground and accompanied by lighting, a matrix of 64 automatic projectors (64 G-SPOT’s) reaches the sky, is reflected in the water and artificial fog, changing the perception of space and offering a new experience to the spectators.

This surprising creative proposal aims not only to beautify the space and to captivate the spectator’s attention, but most of all to arouse in him a real emotion.
Giving its full attention to the spectator’s authentic experience, the team combines its know-how in lighting, architecture and entertainment by regularly integrating new technologies into its services.
This avant-garde dynamic installation leaves open the interpretation of its history through which the spectator rediscovers the artistic possibilities of an urban space often neglected.
