On the occasion of its golden jubilee, SGM has chosen to revisit a product well-known to lighting designers: the Palco, soon to be available in three new versions.
It is presented here by Markus Klüsener, product manager for Golden Sea, the new owner of the Danish firm.
This year, 2025, marks SGM’s 50th anniversary, and to celebrate, they are introducing an upgraded range of LED fixtures that were pioneers in architectural lighting. The new Palco range retains the product’s core identity: a static fixture with a TILT-adjustable head, designed for outdoor use. The 2025 version features a completely redesigned, more angular yet perhaps more understated look, making it smaller and, of course, lighter. When folded in on itself, the fixture’s footprint is reduced by 50%, with the LED panel retracting completely into its base.
The range includes three fixtures whose difference lies in the number of sources. Thus, the Palco 3 inherits 18 LEDs controllable in 3 zones, 36 for the Palco 6 (6 control zones), and finally 72 for the Palco 12 with 12 control zones. The original Palco swaps its Luxeon “pizza effect” LED sources for full RGB, enhanced with Lime for extended colorimetry. The brand also puts forward as an argument the performance of color rendering and especially the homogeneity of the mixtures, throughout the entire dimmer range.

Just like before, the new Palco range is designed for outdoor use. Its outer shell is made from recycled aluminum, and its optics are built to withstand UV rays without any problems. When it comes to light spread, you can use many different filters and accessories, like ones that change the beam angle, a set of barn doors, and frost filters, to name a few.
Finally, the device has connections for wired control via DMX-RDM, ArtNet, and sACN. It also includes a LumenRadio CRMX module for wireless DMX and an NFC chip.
