ETC Source Four Led, a family of four

With its new Led projectors made to replace the existing traditional lighting, ETC blows the hot and the cold on the light. The American manufacturer took all his time to develop those products, setting the specifications on very high standards to fulfill even the most difficult Lighting Designer requests with its family of four LED luminaires: Tungsten 3000K, Daylight 5600K, Studio HD with a range from 2700K to 5600K and with its five colors and the Lustr Series 2 with his matrix of 7 different LED colors.

Clay Paky Mythos, more than a million… lux, that is!

Clay Paky leads its competitors at a cracking pace. Six months after the Super Sharpy was presented at Prolight+Sound, topping the headlines from Plasa is Mythos, a compact spot with a power consumption of only 500 W and an incredible punch, like the Super Sharpy. Soundlightup was invited to a preview presentation of the Beta version by Clay Paky France before Plasa, and we had time to get out our Minolta lux meter and perform some flux measurements.

Lab Gruppen IPD 2400

With the IPD "Intelligent Power Drive" series, Lab.gruppen has created a new concept for the amplification of medium-power sound reinforcement systems that incorporates a DSP platform and intelligent power management into an affordable 1U rack sized package, which is light and easy to set up. To do this, the Swedish manufacturer has changed its tune in amplification technology by opting for fully bridged class D instead of class TD (tracking class D) and is working on the optimal management of energy resources of the switch-mode power supply (without PFC) by distributing the available energy between the two channels as required.

Ayrton Intellipix-R, enter the matrix !

Launched at LDI 2013, Intellipix is a semi-transparent panel accommodating 25 LED RGBW 15 W sources linked to a new collimator, which will be available across the entire “RADICAL” range from this French manufacturer. An exclusively orientated effect, with its 25 narrow beams and profile spots to create relief in space. The intellipix acts as a link between the light and the video, which will allow designers to give free rein to their imaginations. Just like the toy Meccano, the system of panels allows an infinite range of possibilities at set-up level.

Martin Mac Viper Wash DX

Martin Mac Viper Wash DX, with a secret ingredient !

After MAC 2000 XB success, Martin couldn’t only introduce a new wash, even with a 1:5 zoom, with an extremely comprehensive color system and an iris because of the hard competition with LED washes. MAC Viper Wash had to have something more hidden behind the ‘DX’.

Robert Juliat ZEP 340LF, the cyber-Fresnel.

Following the introduction of the fully outfitted Tibo range, it was time to modernize its sacrosanct Fresnel projector, in a powerful 150 W LED version available in cool white and warm white. Join me in a tour around this high-tech fixture.

Martin Mac Viper Profile. The Return of the King

It is the new revolution of the season, a Martin moving head, a true spot with a blessed 1000 W discharge lamp, gobos, CMY color, zoom and functions like the good old days of this breed of projectors that we believed to be extinct. It has a rock star name and the stature of a workhorse; it is a deadly viper and a legion of 5000 units has already marched out of the factories. It's all here and, more than anything else, it represents a resurrection.

JB-Lighting A12: Deutsche Qualität

The latest addition to the JB-Lighting range, loaded with 61 15-watt RGBW LEDs, the A12 moving head wash is presented as a technological flagship capable of competing with 1200 W arc-source lights. Beyond the advertising claims, does this unassuming, 100% German mover really revolutionize a market locked into a race for power? When the Parisian rental company NAT didn't hesitate to invest in a significant number of A12s – 500 units – we decided it was necessary to bring one to the test bench.

SGM X-5 : the StrobFather ?

LEDs have replaced most of the lamps in our fixtures for show lighting, although certainly in each case with more or less success. There is still one type of product in which no one had thought to install them: the strobe. Peter Johansen, who marks his return to the industry at the command of SGM, had this great idea and offers us his X-5, a strobe loaded with white LEDs. We put on our sunglasses and take a closer look at it.

Midas Pro 2C

Undisputed and highly respected leader on the high-end analog console market, Midas took its time before tackling the growing sector of digital consoles. After a strategic observation period, the British firm finally unveiled in 2007 the XL8, an uncompromising digital mixing system, carrying over all of the audio qualities of its illustrious predecessors (Heritage, XL4, XL3 etc.) but also some new, innovative and original operating solutions. Unfortunately, due to its size and its elitist price positioning, five years after its release, the XL8 is still an object of unfulfilled fantasy and desire for most sound engineers.
