The P6 Profile Spotlight.

The P6 profile spot boasts impressive technical credentials, with its precisely controlled 6-colour 600 W LED engine and a 360° rotating framing module that is surprisingly easy to use. We caught up with Fabrice Dayan, Product Manager at Cameo, to take a look at this new fixture, which sits proudly on the Cameo stand.

The P6 is an LED profile spotlight using an additive synthesis RGB + Amber + Cyan + Lime LED source driven at 600 W. Let’s get the basics laid out right away: it is advertised as rivalling a traditional 2.5 kW lamp-based fixture with flexibility and precision, and a flux of 18,000 lm, while adding the most extensive colour functions and an energy saving of almost 70% compared to a conventional profiler!

So this fixture has a lot going for it, and the figures seem to speak for themselves. The CRI and TLCI colour rendering indexes reach 97 and 91 respectively, both very impressive results. The white generated by the coloured LEDs can be varied between 2700 K and 6500 K. Thanks to this choice of LED source colours, we can expect a very wide colour gamut and quality mixes. Its software lets you choose between four dimming curves, and the LED modulation frequency can also be adjusted between 1,530 Hz and 25 kHz.

A rear view of the P6: in the foreground is the display, followed by the handle of one of the shutters, and on the right is the locking system for the rotation of the entire optical section.

Turning to the optical section of the P6, this houses the zoom and focus lenses, which allow you to set the focus and adjust the beam aperture between 5° and 50°. The 4-shutter framing module, gobo holder, iris and frost filter are all housed in the nose of the fixture.
It’s not uncommon to find optical assemblies that can be rotated (with varying degrees of difficulty depending on the age and condition of the fixture) by a few dozen degrees to adjust the orientation of all the framing shutters.

Here, instead, after a quick release of a latch, the magic happens: the unit rotates 360° with disconcerting ease. The rotation is equipped with detents that offer slight resistance and allow the unit to be adjusted every 90°. The idea is simple, but brilliantly executed.
This state-of-the-art luminaire is equipped with all the latest control standards. With its 16 parameters, it supports DMX-RDM, ArtNet and sACN. It can also be fitted with the iDMX stick for wireless control.
The P6’s design has also been well crafted, giving it a modern, professional look. As for its size, its overall length of 73 cm and its weight of just 23 kg aren’t particularly demanding.

The P6 profile should be available in May, at a recommended retail price of around €5,500, excluding VAT.
