The North American manufacturer ETC unveils a new series of wash moving heads: two compact and versatile fixtures benefiting from a high level of engineering, refined down to the smallest details.

With these two new machines, we are witnessing a remarkable step forward toward combining pixel technology and Fresnel optics—two elements that have traditionally been difficult to integrate. MegaPix and GigaPix feature a lens known as IFL, which could be described as a “multi-Fresnel.”
Its innovative coating and layout technology is patented. This series therefore combines the softness of a wash with diffuse edges also offering a wide zoom range (4.5° to 55°) with independent pixel effects. Looking more closely, the optical output is divided into 6 and 9 zones respectively, each topped with its own miniature Fresnel lens.
Technical specifications: MegaPix is equipped with 360 W of RGB+Lime LEDs (producing 10,000 lumens), while GigaPix increases the power to 540 W, delivering up to 16,000 lumens. The choice of RGBL LEDs promises a color rendering index of 85, with a TLCI of 86, as well as a wide range of white color temperatures from 2,000 to 10,000 K.
To meet the needs of theatre and auditorium users, the fixture integrates several fan modes that virtually eliminate any unwanted noise. For control, operators have access to DMX-RDM and network protocols such as Art-Net and sACN. Internal parameter management and addressing can also be handled via NFC.
Very compact, its dimensions do not exceed 45 cm in span for the larger of the two models, ensuring easy handling and an excellent weight-to-power ratio, with MegaPix weighing no more than 9.2 kg. GigaPix remains under the 15 kg mark.
The design has also been carefully considered: clean and well thought out, with simplified fasteners for maintenance operations and optimized for transport, featuring wide yet slim handles designed to be securely gripped even when wearing gloves.
The fixture carries an IP54 rating, making it suitable for humid environments. Its housings maintain waterproofing solely through a set of seals no external device is required for pressurization or vacuum sealing.
MegaPix and GigaPix have just entered production and are available at public list prices (excl. VAT) of €3,700 and €5,100 respectively.
