While Noel and Liam have been playing the songs in their solo guises, the clamour for Oasis never abated. And 16 years after their acrimonious split they’re back with a setlist for the ages. That’s the story.
Two ‘Godlike Geniuses’ on stage, the want for ‘something biblical’ is apposite and award-winning video company Universal Pixels (UP) has been right behind the band’s massively acclaimed reunion since it kicked off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. Two dates that set a seismic template for Oasis Live ’25, 41 performances in 13 countries across five months.
Production manager Tony Gittins tasked UP with colouring Paul Normandale’s show design in the shape of a complete video package. Commissioned 12 months ago, UP invested in the stunning image quality of Absen’s Venus 4.8mm LED, developing and delivering a huge upstage wall – 1,100sqm in Heaton Park – with IMAG screens 10 degrees back on either side.
Universal Pixels brought in Brompton Technology to manage the ambitious video setup, deploying 16 4K Tessera SX40 LED video processors and 34 Tessera XD 10G data distribution units, chosen for their ability to provide full redundancy, superb image quality, and colour accuracy. That combines with the pixel-perfect playback capabilities of four Disguise GX 3 media servers which power generative Notch graphics and IMAG content. Using Disguise’s Designer software, it means show programmer Anthony Condon can precisely output and synchronise visuals across the screens, to stunning impact.
Steered by video director Jon Shrimpton, the band’s high-resolution backdrop is truly spectacular – from the opening slew of media commotion about the reunion via beautifully graded black and white headshots of Hello to the landscapes, cityscapes and seascapes that support Champagne Supernova two and half hours later. And the creative window is open, Oasis fans at the Cardiff dates applauding a Diogo Jota drop-in among the psychedelic artistry for Live Forever the day after the Liverpool centre forward’s car crash.
The Oasis Live ’25 tour has stayed in step with its perfect start, a furore of five-star reviews, and the video element amplifies, projects, and embellishes the performance right across these huge venues.
Gareth Manicom, head of technical at Universal Pixels, comments, “Collaborating with Absen, Brompton Technology and Disguise means a smooth set-up, unwavering reliability and out of this world visuals, crucial elements in a tour that fans have been hoping for since 2009. It’s a pleasure to play a part in delivering an experience for each and every individual ticketholder that will live forever.”
Subject to equally demonstrative demand and response, across the generations, Oasis Live ’25 wraps on November 23 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
