ETC celebrates 50 years of innovations at Prolight+Sound

Text and photos Jérôme Boutié - Video Allison Cussigh – Translation: Ted Hall

To celebrate its Golden Jubilee, American brand Electronic Theatre Controls (or ETC for short) unveiled new hardware for its Hog range, the RigPOV camera for automated luminaires, among other innovations.

We tried to weave our way through the crowd of visitors drawn by the new Hog range to find Jonathan Grimaux, Marketing and Communications Specialist for the French subsidiary. He’ll be our guide to the manufacturer’s new products. These are detailed in this video by Eric Leroy (Project Coordinator), who also discusses the new Hog range, launched just before the show (see SoundLightUp news (voir news SoundLightup (ETC reveals new HOG range)

.

The sleek and elegant RigPOV camera is for use with a remote followspot setup and/or a stage view via EOS environments.

RigPOV, a camera for moving heads

Let’s start with the RigPOV. This camera creates a video feed that you can use for assisted follow-spot applications or for direct video feedback right on your EOS consoles. The RigPOV can be attached to Lonestar, Hyperstar, and Halcyon (Gold, Platinum, and Titanium) fixtures.

It produces an NDI video stream and mounts directly to the side of the fixture’s head. ETC is even providing new covers that have the camera’s mounting points built-in. The RigPOV was just unveiled and will be available starting in June 2025.

First look at the new range of smart power distribution racks Foundry Switch Panel.

Foundry Switch Panel, power control systems

ETC has just released its new power control solution for the European market: the Foundry Switch Panels. Available in three versions (12, 24, or 48 relay outputs), these panels are designed to manage and control the power supply for lighting and other equipment in buildings like theaters, performance halls, arenas, convention centers, and auditoriums…

Staying true to its roots as a theater lighting manufacturer, ETC designed an innovative system with no forced ventilation, meaning it operates silently. It has all the modern connections you need, including DMX/RDM and sACN control, plus NFC with the ETC Set Light app.
Showing its versatility, the Foundry range can control both traditional and LED house lights, as well as manage power for automated fixtures. Shipments begin in late May 2025.

Source Four Mini Led in F-Drive version

Let’s take a quick look at how conventional fixtures are being updated with LED sources, specifically the latest Source Four Mini LED profile spot. This small fixture, perfect for close-up projections and museum use, is now available in an F-Drive version. With the F-Drive version, the fixture’s power supply is moved to a separate F-Drive rack. This rack has interchangeable driver cards, so it can power different types of connected lights. For our profile spot, the power is then sent via an RJ45 connection.

We can now hook up our Source Four Mini Led with F-Drivehe to the power supply rack with interchangeable driver cards.
The smallest Led Profile by ETC has a remote power supply. We can see the RJ45 connectors conveying the power supply.

SiteLink

Here’s another new product: SiteLink. This is a web-based platform that lets you control and monitor all your networked ETC devices from anywhere in the world, at any time. SiteLink can be compared to a cloud service where you can view and adjust your ETC equipment in real time. It allows you to take control, check the status, or get alerts about your installations, all based on how you set it up.

The new SiteLink web interface by ETC can be used to visualize and manage the extent of fixtures connected.
To manage your SiteLink cloud, all your ETC devices need to be linked to a Sitebox, then it gathers all the information and makes it available on the web interface.

To be able to be managed by the cloud, network devices must be connected to the SiteBox box and pay a monthly subscription fee; several plans are available.

ColorSource Fresnel VMax

The ColorSource range welcomes new members. First, the ColorSource Fresnel V is upgraded to the Max version. It now incorporates a 60-LED Lumiled Luxeon engine, compared to 44 for the standard version, which doubles its light output, going from 5,000 to more than 10,000 lumens, all with a very slight increase in power consumption (200 W of electrical power). All other technical characteristics of the product, including its weight and dimensions, remain unchanged, while compatibility remains optimal.

One of the new members in the ColorSource range: the PAR V Zoom.

ColorSource PAR V Zoom

To finish up, we’re looking at the ColorSource PAR V Zoom. This fixture was developed with the same core features as other lights in its range: an extended-color LED source (RGB + indigo + lime), wired DMX/RDM and wireless Multiverse control from ETC, and smartphone communication via NFC.
The beam angle can be adjusted from 17 to 41 degrees using a manual zoom wheel located under the front of the fixture.
